Born and bred in North West Province in Lehurutshe, Pontsho Moono, better known as Monotone, is a music producer/Sound engineer/DJ who has been in the circles since 2004. Having completed his Music Technology studies at Central Johannesburg College in 2004, where he attended with other great artists like the Jaziel Brothers and Siphokazi. From the moment he graduated, Monotone got straight to business and worked on numerous musical projects which included producing a hip hop album called Classix Vol 1, featuring Selwyn, Khethi, Thabi. The songs were performed at the Africa day concert 2009. Also Produced a track called Khula On Khethis album which is enjoying airplay on Kaya Fm. Not being one to become complacent, Pontsho was roped in to produce some of the music for the Crown Gospel Awards. Little did he know that was only the beginning of great things. Before he knew it, his music was used on SABC 1s variety show Selimathunzi as well as other SABC promos. That led to him being invited as the guest DJ on the 1st episode of SABC 1 youth entertainment show Mzansi Insider, hosted by the Twins. In early 2011, Pontsho signed on to produce beats for Lalela Music, a library music company that provides beats to local and international production houses. Soon afterwards, Rhythm City featured him on the (Dance-a-Thon) episode, where he was the main DJ, debuting his hit track Invitation to Dance on the show. The most recent exciting venture has been licensing 4 songs which will be released this summer, from compilations of DJ Euphonik, Mo Flava and Soul Candis 10th Anniversary and Mmmthis Essential. Since debuting on Rhythm City, the hit single (Invitation 2 Dance) has been making a major impact on commercial radio stations like Metro FM, 5FM and Yfm and most charts countdowns.
